## COMMENTARIUS IN DISTINCTIONEM VII.
De confirmatione.
Nunc de Sacramento confirmationis addendum est.
DIVISIO TEXTUS.
Haec est secunda pars huius partis, in qua Magister agit de Sacramentis secundum septem differentias. Supra enim egit de baptismo, qui est primus inter Sacramenta; hic agit de confirmatione. Et quoniam tria est considerare circa hoc Sacramentum: primo ea quae spectant ad integritatem¹, secundo ad efficaciam, tertio vero ad usum; ideo pars ista tres habet particulas. In prima parte agit de hoc Sacramento quantum ad integritatem. In secunda quantum ad efficaciam vel virtutem, ibi: Virtus autem huius Sacramenti est donatio Spiritus sancti ad robur. In tertia quantum ad usum sive modum sumendi², ibi: Hoc Sacramentum tantum a ieiunis etc.
TRACTATIO QUAESTIONUM.
Ad intelligentiam illorum trium, quae Magister agit de Sacramento confirmationis, tria principaliter quaeruntur.
Primo quaeritur de hoc Sacramento quantum ad integritatem.
Secundo, quantum ad virtutem vel efficaciam.
Tertio, quantum ad usum.
Circa primum quaeruntur tria.
Primo quaeritur de confirmatione quantum ad formam.

## COMMENTARY ON DISTINCTION VII.
On confirmation.
Now something must be added concerning the Sacrament of confirmation.
DIVISION OF THE TEXT.
This is the second part of this part, in which the Master treats of the Sacraments according to seven differences. For above he treated of baptism, which is first among the Sacraments; here he treats of confirmation. And since three things are to be considered concerning this Sacrament — first, the things that pertain to its integrity¹; second, [those that pertain] to its efficacy; third, [those that pertain] to its use — therefore this part has three subdivisions. In the first part he treats of this Sacrament as regards its integrity. In the second, as regards its efficacy or power, there: But the power of this Sacrament is the giving of the Holy Spirit unto strength. In the third, as regards its use or manner of receiving², there: This Sacrament [is to be received] only by those who are fasting, etc.
TREATMENT OF THE QUESTIONS.
For the understanding of those three things which the Master treats concerning the Sacrament of confirmation, three matters are principally inquired into.
First, it is asked about this Sacrament as regards its integrity.
Second, as regards its power or efficacy.
Third, as regards its use.
Concerning the first, three things are asked.
First, it is asked about confirmation as regards its form.
Second, as regards its matter.
Third, as regards the power of the minister of the Sacrament.
