Divisio textus.
In secunda vero assignat quandam p. 481regulam, in qua discernuntur propria a communibus, ibi: Et hic est advertenda quaedam generalis regula. In tertia opponit contra praedictam regulam et determinat, ibi: Hic quaeritur, cum dicitur Deus de Deo. ## Commentary on Distinction XXVII.
Part II.
On the properties of the persons, insofar as they are expressed through less usual terms.
"Here it must not be passed over, that just as the Father and the Son etc."
Division of the text.
Above, the Master treated of the personal properties according as they are expressed through more usual names; here he treats, in the second place, of the same [properties], according as they are expressed through less usual terms. And this part has four divisions. In the first, the Master assigns the differences of the names through which it is fitting that these properties be expressed, confirming by authorities that those names are proper. In the second, indeed, he assigns a certain p. 481rule by which the proper [names] are distinguished from the common, there: "And here a certain general rule is to be noted." In the third, he objects against the aforesaid rule and determines [the matter], there: "Here it is asked, when it is said, God of God." In the fourth, from that solution he draws out another rule, there: "And it must be known that according to the names of substance etc."
Treatment of the questions.
For the understanding of the things that are said concerning the Word, in this part four [questions] are asked.
First, concerning the signification of the Word.
Secondly, concerning [its] connotation.
Thirdly, concerning its comparison.
Fourthly, concerning [its] transferred [usage].
