Supra egit Magister de relativis, quae conveniunt Deo proprie et aeternaliter13. Hic agit de his quae conveniunt Deo temporaliter et communiter, et habet haec pars duas. In prima Magister agit de relativis, quae ex tempore de Deo dicuntur. Tractatio quaestionum.

Ad intelligentiam eorum quae dicuntur in hac distinctione, tria quaeruntur.

Primo, utrum aliquid dicatur de Deo ex tempore.

## Commentary on Distinction XXX.

On relative names which are said of God temporally and commonly.

"For there are certain things which are said of God in time."

Division of the text.

Above, the Master treated of the relatives which belong to God properly and eternally13. Here he treats of those which belong to God temporally and commonly, and this part has two [subdivisions]. In the first, the Master treats of the relatives which are said of God in time. In the second, of those which belong to several persons, yet can be appropriated, such as similar and equal, below in distinction thirty-one: "Moreover, it must be considered, when the three persons."

The first part has four parts. In the first he shows that certain names are said of God in time, giving examples from many [cases]. In the second, because the example concerning this name lord seemed unsuitable, he raises an objection and resolves it, there: "But here someone will say, that not from time." In the third, however, because what was said seemed false — that something is said of God from time — he raises and resolves a doubt, there: "How then shall we maintain that nothing is according to accident etc." In the fourth, moreover, from what has been previously determined, he resolves a certain24 doubt raised in the preceding [pages], there: "Here the question proposed above can be resolved."

Treatment of the questions.

For the understanding of the things said in this distinction, three [questions] are asked.

First, whether anything is said of God in time.

Second, granted that this is so, it is asked whether the things which are said of God in time are said per se [essentially], or according to accident.

Third, whether they are said according to substance, or according to relation.
