Solvuntur sophisticae rationes haereticorum, qui negant, corpus Christi esse in altari.
Sunt item alii praecedentium insaniam transcendentes.
DIVISIO TEXTUS.
Supra ostendit Magister, corpus Christi verum sumi. In hac parte ostendit, corpus Christi verum esse in altari, procedens a destructione minoris erroris ad destructionem maioris. Et dividitur haec pars in duas partes. In prima Magister respondet sophisticis rationibus illorum qui dicebant, corpus
Christi verum in altari non esse. In secunda veritatem confirmat multiplici auctoritate ostendens, quod corpus1 verum est in altari, et qua virtute hoc fiat, ibi: Satis responsum arbitror esse haereticis.
Prima pars habet duas. In prima ponit auctoritates et rationes. In secunda subiungit expositiones et determinationes, ibi: Quae ex eadem ratione omnia accipienda sunt. Et illa similiter duas habet. In prima exponit et determinat quasdam auctoritates, quas illi male intelligendo depravabant2. In secunda vero quasi incidenter exponit quandam locutionem tropicam Augustini, quae posset alicui ministrare fomentum erroris, ibi: Attende his diligenter, quia tropo quodam etc.
TRACTATIO QUAESTIONUM.
Ad intelligentiam huius partis quaeruntur quinque.
Primo quaeritur, utrum corpus Christi sit in altari secundum veritatem.
Secundo, utrum sit ibi secundum quantitatem.
Tertio, utrum sit ibi definitive.

COMMENTARY ON DISTINCTION X.
Part I.
The sophistical reasons of the heretics, who deny that the body of Christ is on the altar, are resolved.
There are likewise others who surpass the madness of those preceding.
DIVISION OF THE TEXT.
Above the Master showed that the true body of Christ is received. In this part he shows that the true body of Christ is on the altar, proceeding from the refutation of the lesser error to the refutation of the greater. And this part is divided into two parts. In the first the Master replies to the sophistical reasons of those who said that the body of
Christ is not truly on the altar. In the second he confirms the truth by manifold authority, showing that the body1 is truly on the altar, and by what power this comes about, there: I think a sufficient answer has been given to the heretics.
The first part has two [subdivisions]. In the first he sets down authorities and reasons. In the second he subjoins expositions and determinations, there: Which from the same reasoning are all to be received. And that [part] likewise has two. In the first he expounds and determines certain authorities, which they, understanding them badly, were distorting2. In the second, however, as it were incidentally, he expounds a certain tropical expression of Augustine, which might furnish someone with fuel for error, there: Attend to these things diligently, because by a certain trope etc.
TREATMENT OF THE QUESTIONS.
For the understanding of this part five [things] are asked.
First it is asked, whether the body of Christ is on the altar according to truth.
Second, whether it is there according to quantity.
Third, whether it is there definitively.
Fourth, whether dimensively.
Fifth, whether it is whole in each part of the host.
